Just like every other morning, Kandie stumbled out of the motel and made her way towards Jorri Rae's Diner. As she made her way down the street Kandie noticed something odd. She could smell smoke. Kandie made her way to the location of the smell, which happened to be behind the library. She had never really been around the library and certainly had never been in it. Kandie was over joyed to see a huge bonfire of books blazing into the sky. Immediately Kandie went and grabbed her bottle of liquor from the bushes behind Jorri's and headed back to the library. By the time the short walk to the library was over, Kandie was drunk. Also, to Kandie's delight some other lovely "ladies" had made their way to the bonfire. Next thing she knew she was running around the bonfire screaming and hollering with all the other women. Her only concern was that some of the prostitutes were wasting bottles of liquor and throwing them into the fire. An odd homeless man walked up to Kandie, obviously attempting to see if Kandie would be willing to have sex. But Kandie knew better than to go for a homeless guy. She simply pointed him in the direction of the other prostitutes. Kandie passed out within an hour.
Kandie only woke up to the sound of giggling and a flash directly in her face. She woke up to see some sort of Asian tourist standing over her taking a picture. Kandie was pissed. She got up, stormed over to the horrified Japanese girl and grabbed her camera. Without even thinking, Kandie threw the camera into the fire. Suddenly Kandie was bombarded by loud and angry Japanese tourists. Drunk Kandie couldn't deal with it. She called over the other prostitutes and homeless men to help her. Minutes of screaming and near altercations ensued. Finally, a translator from the group spoke up and the dispute was settled. Kandie was to repay the translator the way she repays everyone- she made her way back to the motel that night with her new Japanese friend.

After a few hours of fruitless search, she made her way back onto the streets to find the chaos. She hardly recognized the street. The prostitutes, normally posted up hollering for business, were drunkenly writhing under the flash of tourist's camera (why there were tourists? - that was the last thing on her mind.) The screams she had heard had seemed harmless; now the sheer volume made her cover her ears. Everything, the fire hydrants, the broken storefronts, the broken people, glowed in the blazing night.
ReplyDeleteIM GONE
ReplyDeleteWhen I wake up in the morning, I know what to do. Get up, shower, eat, pack and get the hell out of this place. And thats what I begin to do. I take a 30 minute shower, eat a nice breakfast- a bacon, mustard, egg and cheese sandwich with a side of french toast and some orange juice- and then proceed to packing. Its pretty early in the morning since I dont want to see anyone when i go, but I hear a bunch of chaos outside. So i stop packing and head outside to see what is going on.
When I reach outside, I see that there is some type of rally outside which looks like a cult about to sacrifice someone. They are stacking books and setting them ablaze and chanting. CREEPY.
Next thing I know the mosque sets on fire and then from there everything goes wrong. Kandi and the rest of local prostitutes come out and join, the homeless people come out, and out of no where a group of japanese people comes out and jeb is even out there. Everyone from the whole town was out and about. It was such a weird experience. and its also the experience that made me decide to STAY.
